Nine months ago, a veteran got on my live and said he wanted his music to reach more people. Tonight, he sang the national anthem in a stadium. Listen to this. And then read on. That’s Adam Kelley performing the anthem at the Corpus Christi Hooks game, the AA affiliate of the Houston Astros. Here’s how he got there. Adam joined a Team Lighthouse live and mentioned he was a musician. He wanted to get his music to more people.. I said, let’s play your music. And when I pressed play, every single person on that live was undone. His voice. His lyrics. Adam is a veteran who writes music for veteran mental health awareness, not just for veterans but for the people who love and support them. We had veterans on that live. We had people who love veterans. We had people from all walks of life on the life… and everyone felt it. Then we went back to talking about goals. And Sam Torres, a leader in our community and a veteran himself, said his goal was to see Adam sing the national anthem at a major event. These two men were strangers. Different states. They had never met. Most people would say something like that and let it go. Not Sam. He went to work. Phone calls. Emails. Months of quietly making it happen. And he landed it. Adam flew from Utah to Texas. He and Sam met for the first time and immediately became brothers. The game was military themed, honoring veterans. It could not have been more perfect.
