My absolute favorite marketplace find is a 1900s barrister bookcase I got for $40 because it's missing the bottom glass panel. I about died because these are hundreds of dollars, this is what marketplace is for. Not for Jennifer and Kyle, who go to the thrift store and shops with the sole purpose of reselling on Marketplace and eBay.

We live over closer to the Oregon coast. Lived in Bend for 8+ years back in 2003. We just came to Sunriver in June and I was going to pick up a cheap bike so we could ride around with our son and they were so expensive and not like the fancy mountain bikes ( those I understand) they were almost double what people sell them for around here on marketplace. I was shocked 😅 Lesson learned , buy the recreational equipment over here.

If it’s on market place it has to be at least 40% off new price to be considered. But usually I stick to 60% or less unless it’s a niche item.

I have the opposite issue. I have brand new expensive things I just got and have to move and list it so cheap. Like a $500 bedframe I’ll only ask $100 and people will be like I only have $40 I want it

Some people enjoy haggling over price. I do not. I price stuff low and if it doesn’t move quickly I’ll lower the price more. Some stuff I’ll wait on if I’m not in a rush to sell it though. I do not care to haggle, however. I just want to declutter and make some cash while I’m at it!

part of it is that everyone expects to talk down the price. we always list our items a bit higher so that we can actually get a fair amount while the other person thinks they did something XD but I'm not asking insane prices.
