I’m only 6 years into the rest of my life, but there’s something one of my wife’s closest sister told me after she passed away that I’ve carried with me ever since. She died from colon cancer, and can be a very difficult disease to go through. She said, “You may not get to spend the rest of your life with her, but she got to spend the rest of her life with you. You were her fairytale.” Losing someone you love changes you, but sometimes the greatest comfort is knowing that, for the time you had together, you were someone’s safe place, their love, and their fairytale. So I hope if you can take those words and find solace in being your husbands fairytale. You may not have gotten all the forever you dreamed of, but you were part of their story until the very end. And sometimes, being someone’s fairytale is a beautiful thing to hold onto. And I hope you've been coping well. ☘️
