i was starting to see your point until i realized that dc has been releasing tv shows too alongside theatrical movies. they also dragged down trust in the dcu. with mcu all they had was iron man, the incredible hulk and an upcoming iron man 2 that everyone was hyped for.

Its probably because people expect a certain level of quality. The whole “connected universe” has been done before. We know what works and what doesn’t. If you don’t follow the blueprint and the movie/ show ends up being mid or not vibing with the audience its on DC studios from not learning from the past

DC’s best stuff is better than Marvel’s best stuff, and I mean that across mediums. There are more great DC comic runs than Marvel ones, more great DC cartoons than Marvel, more great DC live action shows than Marvel, more great DC video games than Marvel… it goes on and on. So I think DC having such a high peak makes the less good entries feel worse by comparison. So, like, Supergirl looks perfectly adequate against most of the MCU’s output but compare it to something like The Batman and it looks a lot worse.

to be fair, MCU started almost 20 years ago and the audience standards have changed overtime. a 7/10 movie won't be successful at the box office just cus it's a comic book adaptation anymore

I feel like a lot of this because when it comes to the flops and stuff with the Hulk, that’s when, movies were still in the early stages of like being cared about so even though they were getting a little bit more popular still nowhere near as they are today and as much attention as they have one of them today, like if the roles were reversed, and Supergirl flopped back in the day, nobody would’ve cared
