@melhamlett: I want women to not need men for validation, money, survival stuff, or little anything, esp since climate disasters are gonna become more frequent . I share about how to do this stuff on the atreon of pay. Link ⬆️ #survivalskills #decentermen #climatechange #empowerwomen #dontneednoman @Melanie Hamlett
My dad taught me to not need a man. I can’t think of anything that I need a man for now as an adult. He did it because he is a monster & didn’t want me to be around someone like him.

Building a fire is hardly a major skill. It was the job of the youngest child in my family.

I go camping and hiking with my sister all the time and I’m proud of what we’re able to accomplish without men. We learned some skills from our father and older brother but a lot of it also comes from our own research and learning from other outdoorsy women.

i think this is a 2sided coin. i have cptsd from my upbringing and being neglected. i worked in construction when i became 16 and i was never sheltered or shamed about things like dating and sex. but i also missed guidence/help, and that does include things like self- and healthcare. looks are part of it but there is way more to it and i think it's a thin line to 'i'm not like other girls'.

Im gonna try to organize a workshop with a badass friend of mine so she can teach us women how to start a fire with ancestral tools, a bow etc… she is a master of animal tracking too. She’s a major badass. She’s moving to Lyon actually though!

As someone who was the “pretty girl” my worth was always determined by how pretty I was and how I could “maintain” it. I’m 38 now and I’ve moved out somewhere more rural and I rarely wear makeup I feel like a whole different person. I move faster now. Not being held back by “ideals”. I’m more me than I’ve ever been. I’m growing older but I’m doing so much more with my time. Found out so much more about myself. I’m a happy hobby ho now and I wake up to bunnies and chickens. I highly recommend being closer to nature to get your life in perspective.
