Before anyone starts attacking me in the comments, this is my opinion after watching these shows. I know every series on this list has a huge fanbase for a reason, and I'm not saying any of them are bad. Breaking Bad is a masterpiece. Better Call Saul has some of the best writing ever. White Collar, Suits, Prison Break, Dexter, Lost, Stranger Things, Squid Game, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and the rest are all incredible in their own way. But no matter how many shows I watch, I always end up coming back to The Mentalist. There's just something about Patrick Jane that no other character has been able to replace for me. His intelligence, observation, manipulation, humor, confidence, and the way he reads people make every episode impossible to stop watching. It's one of the few shows that had me completely hooked from beginning to end. I've watched a lot of TV over the years, and somehow The Mentalist is still the standard I compare everything else to. If you've watched most of these shows, I'm genuinely curious... where would you rank The Mentalist?
