There are no less than 3 types of biblical baptism. One of water. One of spirit. One which speaks of an experience and can be applied to multiple situations. I already cited verses for the first two, the third can be seen in Mark 10:38-39

The problem with this argument (I was brought up a Baptist btw, don’t hate me for it) is you can also infer from the text you brought up from Peter and also how Nicodemus was confused with Jesus even after the baptisms done in the name of John the Baptist can be inferred to not have required water to be a Baptism. I would say that you would at the very least have to question the motive of why someone doesn’t want a Baptism after belief but to indicate that you couldn’t interpret the base set of scriptures the opposite way does seem a bit disingenuous imo.

Jakob, i think you have to start the “discussion” with the Means of Grace to help frame the understanding of who is doing the work and how. That understanding helps frame the discussion for the Sacraments.

Goofy lol 😂 Peter literally destroys your argument in the same verse you’re quoting. He says baptism now saves you not as the removal of dirt from the body <~~~~ He immediately tells you the physical washing is not the saving element. Then he explains what he means. An appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. <~~~~ The saving power is Christ’s resurrection, not the water. And your Noah analogy actually proves my point. What saved Noah <~~~~ the flood water or the ark. It was the ark. The floodwaters were God’s judgment. Noah was saved because he was in the ark, just like believers are saved because they are in Christ. Then compare Peter with Paul. Paul says the true circumcision is made without hands <~~~~ God’s work. Then he says we are raised with Christ through faith in the powerful working of God. Peter and Paul agree perfectly. God’s work through faith is what saves. The water is the outward sign pointing to that reality. Then explain Cornelius <~~~~ he received the Holy Spirit before water baptism. Explain the thief on the cross. Explain the jailer who was first told believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. Explain why Peter never says the water regenerated Cornelius before commanding him to be baptized. So no, 1 Peter 3 is not teaching that water is the one saving baptism. Peter literally says not the removal of dirt from the body and points you to Christ’s resurrection. Christ saves. The water points to Him.
