In my experience, splitting a place by three is not per bedroom. It's per person. It would still be cheaper but they would be splitting half the apartment cost between just the two. It's more than renting a room.

Im a social worker and I would suggest ice tea to try getting to her counties health department because they can often times help lead to other networks of support. Obviously we don’t know what state/county she is in, so it could be a less supported system in that state. She can also go to her PCP or OBGYN where they can connect her or refer her to other support networks. She could also look into DV shelters too.
