@armin.phys1o: Hip Abductor Tendinitis - why sleeping on your side hurts Hip abductor tendinitis usually occurs with the over use of the tendons that insert into the greater trochanter. Note, when the tendon is inflamed it’s called tendinitis however, if the insertion of the tendon to the bone is irritated it’s called enthesitis. This can cause lots of pain and discomfort with the following: 1. When lying on that hip you find it painful 2. When you try and activate those hip abductors and the tendons pull on the greater trochanter you can get pain with hip abduction 3. Pain when directly pressing on the tendon itself 4. Sometimes painful even with single leg activity If that’s the case, you might have hip abductor tendinitis. Try the exercises in this video, start slow and progress. Try and do them daily, 3 sets of 15 and make sure you hold for 3-5 seconds. Isometric type exercises are best in the initial phases of the rehab then progress. In the clinic, ultrasound, sometimes needling the affected muscles, manual therapy, and taping can be useful techniques to further support the recovery of this condition. If you know someone dealing with this condition please tag them or share this video with them. As always comment below your questions and l’il be happy to answer! #hip #hiptendonitis #hippain #hippainrelief hipexercise
