Over the weekend, flew on @vietnamairlines Business class from Singapore to Bangkok through Ho Chi Minh, and here was my experience. Overall, the hard product isn't great but the soft product was pretty good! 1. Lounges In SIN, I was invited to the SATS lounge in T3 which is a decent contract lounge also on Priority Pass (although entry is sometimes denied if invited airline pax loads are high), which is probably appropriate considering there are currently no SkyTeam lounges in SIN, although I'd note that KLM uses the more premium Qantas Business lounge in SIN. In SGN, I could access both of the Vietnam Airlines Lotus lounges which have generally similar F&B options, and I'm always a fan of Vietnamese food. The lounges are clean and airy with basic showers, although they aren't going to be comfortable for long layovers though as there aren't any reclining seats. 2. Hard Product The hard product on the narrowbody A321s that ply these regional routes are dated. They feature 2-2 layout recliner seats and no seat back IFE. Some have IFE screens that are stowed in the armrest but are inoperable. There is WiFi streamed IFE with a limited range of content and no internet. In SGN, most of my narrowbody flights end up in remote bus gates, although I appreciate there's a separate bus for Business class pax. 3. Soft Product This is where Vietnam Airlines shines. On both flights the crews were very friendly and proactive - always checking in and offering drink refills. On the slightly longer SIN-SGN flight, champagne is served, but only red and white wines are served on the shorter SGN-BKK flight. Food was also pretty decent on both sectors, although they seem to be catered from SGN. I love the Golden Lotus Oolong Tea which has lotus seeds, water chestnuts, and Palmyra palm fruit, and is so good! My only gripe would be the lack of printed menus, and amenities like slippers or amenities kits (although the latter is understandable given the short flight durations). #VietnamAirlines #BusinessClass #Aviation #Fly #Travel
