@fashionchooks: Did you know chickens only have one external opening? It’s called the cloaca, and it’s used for laying eggs, passing droppings, and reproduction. Although waste and eggs leave through the same opening, they don’t come from the same place inside the body. During egg laying, the cloaca temporarily turns inside out slightly to help keep the egg separate from waste, making the process surprisingly clean and efficient. It’s one of the many fascinating adaptations that make chickens unique.
