I had a similar experience, took some practice to get into audio. Cleaning and driving are two of my favorite times to listen to audiobooks! Used to be boring tasks and now I look forward to them

I couldn’t sleep as a kid so I checked out children’s audio books from the library and would listen four hours every night. So I got hella practice! 😂

i have been listening to audiobooks for YEARS, and i STILL cannot listen to any sort of fantasy book without the words going in 1 ear and out the other. i need to stick to romance/litfic/thrillers etc.

I could never absorb what I was hearing but I kept trying and now this year I’ve mostly consumed audiobooks. All I needed was to speed it up to 1.5 or 1.75 to be able to absorb it.

I could not listen to any type of audio books, not even podcasts. I just got distracted and then i was lost.i I'm severely dyslexic so that played in to it. but then started listening to reddit story's and the I slowly started listening to other podcasts. I just listened to my first audio book start to finish this year. it really is listening to it while you clean. 🥰

I stopped listening to audiobooks for a while and definitely had to train myself to focus part of my brain on them when I started again. It took time, but I enjoy having them on while I do chores because it makes me feel productive and entertained when chores are…not entertaining

I’ve been immersive reading all year as like a challenge. (25 books so far) It’s so interesting. I’m scared to just cold turkey an audio book. I like having the real thing there to follow along. (It’s also nice because I’m reading new things because it’s what my library has available on my shelf and not just what I want to be reading which has helped me read books that have been on my shelves far too long). I might try a reread as an audio only.

I just got into audiobooks and it has been a life changer. I haven’t been able to sit down and concentrate to read in months but since May 21, I started and finished 20 audiobooks. I feel like a whole new person😂

I’ve been training myself to do audiobooks because I’m was a bit envious of being able to enjoy a book on the go, I started with Spanish because I used zone out much more with English and now I can do English too😂 but definitely depends on the genre, romance feels a bit weird still
