lts easier that all creation did not and do not exist than that Jesus did not exist in the flesh. Paul's teachings are in perfect sync with the doctrine of Jesus.

Bald Ben goes incompetent again. Historians do this little thing wher we look at evidence *in context* Ben. So things that seem like “a really weird idea” in isolation, make perfect sense once you understand the context. Docetism arise in a period of Christological disputes. These were different theological ideas about the nature of Jesus as Christ: was he subordinate to the Father or equal to him, equally human and divine or more human than divine etc. Some Christologies emphasised his humanity and only had him elevated to some kind of divine status at his resurrection. Others went to the opposite extreme and emphasised his divine status, downplaying his humanity. Here is where we find the Docetists. They believed he was so divine he only had the illusion of humanity. They are one of dozens of manifestations of these debates about Jesus’ nature. You didn’t know all this Ben? It’s basic stuff. Why are you making these smug little videos when you’re so profoundly ignorant and incompetent Ben? 🤔 Oh yes .. clicks.🙄🙄🙄

I think there were many wannabe messiahs back then because of Daniel's prophecy. The story of Jesus is a case of building a character on the idea of the Messiah. I think the story of Mohammed came about in a similar way.

if any real jesus was crucified while his followers thought he was messiah would cause the cognative dissonance needed to fracture into "I guess he wasn't messiah" vs "since he must be the messiah, how do we explain this"

In Rome in the 1st century CE, Josephus wrote The Testimonium Flavianum. Book 18 describes Jesus as a wise man, teacher, and worker of wonders who was crucified by Pontius Pilate. In Book 20, Josephus briefly mentions the execution of "James, the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ," providing strong historical corroboration of Jesus's existence.

You can't prove that Jesus existed, but at least his religion makes a certain amount of sense. We know for sure that Joseph Smith existed, and his religion is pretty much nuts to an outside observer.

Just because you say and other people said he didn't exist doesn't make it true.

I keep saying the Roman Caesars took the Gnosis Christos and gave him a historic mythology called New Testament that linked to the Septuajint Greek Codex.

Jesus’s existence isn’t contingent on whether or not a sect, you, or I believe He exists.

Social History (The Concept of "Whiteness") (the invention of "white people" as a racial category). As a self-identified group, "white people" did not exist until the late 17th century (the 1661s).

Jews didn’t believe Jesus came. Christians said he did. They were both right and wrong. The problem is they kept the truth of why they didn’t believe to themselves. Jesus hadn’t come. He wasn’t supposed to come. This is not natural. There will never be a Jesus that preaches “god” to people because god isn’t a god to warship. But they knew enough of god to say he already game and write it up in the gospels. They knew the pattern. They knew the ritual. They could shape the entire story as if it already happened. But if they told people about the ritual then everyone would know. So either way they lied. Leaving out information is the same thing as lying. Choosing not to tell the full story when you know that would change everything is the same thing as lying.
