both Daemon and Laena had to claim dragons when they were older. Daemon was probably in his 20s, and Laena was at least in her later teens. it's so weird that Rhaena is obsessed with the idea that she needs to have one from birth.

People pointing out that Daemon and Laena bonded with their dragons as late teens/young adults when bitching about Rhaenyra saying she feels left out by having no dragon AREN'T GETTING IT. She's the ONLY one that doesn't have a dragon in her age group. Jace & Luke? Had dragons. Baela, Joffrey, Aemond, Daeron, Helaena? They have dragons. Her toddler baby brothers, Aegon & Viserys? They got dragons. In the books, Aegon still has Sunfyre and his twins son & daughter (I forget the spelling of their names) have dragons. Rhaena has every right to feel left out and excluded when her entire family (with the exception of her grandfather Corlys and her uncle Viserys) have dragons.
