lawyer here. trusts should exist to protect vulnerable people. not as a way to invest, split income, or aggressive tax minimisation. nothing wrong with investing, but pay the tax on the incomes you ultimately enjoy the benefits of. invest through companies.

The short submission time is testament to this regime, let alone, a time of year when tax practitioners are of course very busy. Built by design. But I hope (as I will be) that tax practitioners stand up for their clients and themselves and do flood the consultation with scathing suggestions.
