Sept 10, 2024 I tried my first Hyrox workout. As someone who didn’t grow up very athletic, and was only ever really comfortable lifting weights in my adult years, this style of training did not come naturally to me. It’s hard to explain, but it’s like I couldn’t trust my body to perform in a way it never had before. You can visibly see how uncomfortable I am and the frustration on my face going through movements I’d never once done in the gym before (aside from walking dumbbell lunges). Once I completed that first workout, I admitted to myself that although it was hard, it could only go up from here. I’d keep showing up and see if I could actually improve. As the months went on, I found my rhythm, went from disliking running to loving it, and somehow convinced my boyfriend to sign up for Mixed Doubles in Toronto in 2025. Being the competitive and athletic guy he is, he said yes. Fast forward to October 2025, and we competed in our first Mixed Doubles race. We didn’t finish with a time we were particularly proud of, but I refused to let that take away from what I had accomplished. A year earlier, I could barely get through a HYROX workout. Now, I had crossed the finish line of an actual race. If anything, that race lit a fire under my 🍑 to come back stronger, better prepared and even more ready for HYROX Toronto 2026. I’m emphasizing the “before” because on social media, it’s so easy to see everyone else’s highlight reel. The incredible race times. People flying through stations. People competing in HYROX because it’s become the thing to do in fitness right now. But you don’t always see where everyone started. The person you’re comparing yourself to might have raced HYROX five times and train six days a week. Someone else might have done one race and only have time to train 2 times a week. Neither journey makes the other less valuable. Enjoy the process and try not to measure your progress against someone else’s. Sometimes the biggest win isn’t your finishing time, it’s looking back at where you started and realizing how far you’ve come. 5 weeks out. ❤️🔥 If you’re competing at HYROX Toronto, good luck 🤞🏼 #hyroxtraining #hyrox @HYROX @lululemon @Knix @Saucony @apple @Beats by Dre @Oner Active @Nike
Are you moving out of Canada and trying to figure out your tax residency? 🌍 It is not just about your home or your spouse—the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) looks incredibly closely at your secondary residential ties! When determining if you are a non-resident for tax purposes, the CRA looks at things like your driver's license, your provincial healthcare, and even your golf or magazine subscriptions. In fact, in one court case, an expat who lived abroad for five years but kept using their Ontario healthcare (OHIP) for doctor's visits was deemed a Canadian tax resident and forced to pay Canadian taxes on their income! Severing your ties is not black and white. To show clear intention that you are leaving, you need to minimize as many ties as possible—right down to moving your Apple account, Netflix subscription, and credit cards over to your new country! Every single financial situation is completely unique, but I’d love to know—what secondary ties are you finding the hardest to cut? Let's discuss in the comments! 👇 Disclaimer: This content is intended as general information only and is not to be relied upon as constituting legal, financial, or other professional advice.
