@farmnatics: Slugs are one of the most underrated pests many farmers in Nigeria face. In just a short time, they can chew through an entire plant and leave you wondering what happened overnight. During our crop scouting this morning, I noticed that some leaves had been badly eaten. My first suspects were slugs or caterpillars, but there was nothing on the affected plant. As I continued scouting, I came across this and it confirmed exactly what I suspected. Last year, we battled one of the worst slug infestations we’ve ever experienced on the farm. The damage was significant until several experienced farmers recommended Mocid, a molluscicide. It worked effectively and helped us bring the infestation under control. This is why routine crop scouting is non-negotiable in commercial vegetable farming. Most pest problems don’t become expensive because they are difficult to control.
