The Igbo have no established origin in Egypt. Rather, some Igbo traditions and theories propose a linkage with ancient Israel, which is why the Nri traditional dynasty is often discussed in connection with Israelite ancestry. The Nri institution dates back to at least the early medieval period, with archaeological evidence placing the emergence of the Nri polity around the 9th–11th centuries. According to this tradition, Nri and Eri are associated with the ancestral origins of the Igbo. However, Gad was one of the twelve sons of Joseph and Gad escaped from Egypt before the Exodus. He is the father or Nri and Eri. The Igbo also do not practice a ram cult in the Egyptian sense. Rams have traditionally been used for sacrifice, much as they were in ancient Israelite religious practice. Igbo religious traditions do not have a major deity or standard divine effigy depicted with a ram's head comparable to Egyptian deities such as Khnum or Amun. Therefore, similarities between Igbo and Egyptian religious practices should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of Egyptian ancestry or direct Egyptian influence. my dear, let’s get the history right: the existence of ram symbolism in ancient Egypt does not establish an Egyptian origin for the Igbo, nor does it prove that Igbo religious traditions originated in Egypt.
