The move that we prayed for. In 2022, right after the pandemic, we left Brooklyn with two kids under three and moved to the Texas suburbs. Like so many parents, we genuinely believed that once you have kids… the suburbs are where you’re supposed to go. More space. A backyard. Slower pace. “Better” childhood. And honestly? We bought into that narrative. The city felt like something people did when they were young, carefree, and only responsible for themselves. So we left. We became homeowners. Found out we were expecting our third baby. And on paper, it looked like we had built the life we were supposed to want. And for a while, we were happy. But over time, we realized something really important: Where you raise your kids matters, but where your family as a whole lives matters more.. We missed community. Walkability. Culture. Feeling connected. Feeling inspired. Feeling like ourselves. And if I’m being honest, we noticed changes in ourselves and even in our oldest. So after three years, we made the decision to move back home to New York. And it has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made for our family. I always get comments saying, “Give it a year, you’ll change your tune.” But truthfully? After just one year in the suburbs, I knew in my heart that leaving New York had been a mistake for us. And I want to say this because I know someone out there might need to hear it: Not everyone thrives in the suburbs. And that doesn’t make you ungrateful. For some families, it’s the dream. And I truly love that. But for us? It’s New York or nowhere. And if you’re new here Hi 👋🏽 I’m Alexis full-time creator and mom of three ! follow along as we share life as a family of five who moved back to NYC after three years in the suburbs. We homeschool, work from home full-time, are raising city kids, and are documenting all the chaos, beauty, and adventure of building a life that actually feels like us 🫶🏽🗽 #nycmom #nycfamily #nycliving #mamaof3 #nyclifestyle
