@itsnicethat: Rosie Loraine is a designer that loves all things software, hardware and knitwear. When she learnt more about the close links between coding and knitting she had an idea. Long before computers, one of the first forms of coding was the punch-card system used for mechanical knitting machines. These binary punch-cards inspired the development of the Analytical Engine by Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage in 1842, and along with this the first-ever computer algorithm was created. This inspired her “to create a web tool that generates punchcard-ready patterns that I can translate into fabric with my knitting machine.” #Coding #Knitting #Software #GraphicDesign #KnittingMachine
