I'm pretty sure they're spending more in time & effort corresponding with you over this than the actual value of the return. I work in ecommerce, and there is no way I would let a return get to this point, let alone treat a customer so terribly.

So, Next can't hand the CCTV to you because of GDPR, that much is true. But if you have a lawyer, I think they would have to give it to a lawyer as part of discovery if you were to instruct a solicitor to act on your behalf. I know that sounds silly for a return, but honestly, I don't see Next admitting they're wrong or apologising without some sort of legal action.

I’ve got a next account with £5k credit limit. I’m probably not their ideal customer as I pay it off the statement balance when I’ve used it, but because of this, unless they sort it, I won’t be shopping with them again or using my account; it doesn’t sound worth the risk to be treated like this.

I used to work at next. All barcodes on next products are linked to a persons account if they have bought it online and returned etc. that being said there has been times where I’ve scanned a barcode and it’s come up with someone else’s account and not the person returning it. So there could be a mix up and it’s bringing up your details if they’ve scanned it and not the actual person who’s taken them back.
