The truth is, the majority of Filipinos are not mixed with Spanish ancestry. Colonial history did lead to some intermixing, but it was limited to a small portion of the population. Most Filipinos are of Austronesian descent, and our physical traits, languages, and cultural practices reflect this heritage. 🫶🏽 It’s important to recognize and celebrate our Austronesian identity instead of clinging to colonial narratives that suggest we need foreign ancestry to feel validated.
