I had the same issue 15 years ago. I was making barely enough and basically scraping by 😭 I was complaining about it to my partner and he advised, “Your career path is really limiting. You need to get into a better industry with stronger growth or get re-educated.” 🤷🏻♀️. I didn’t want to go back to school, but my current experience wasn’t enough to move laterally into another industry. 😔. So I took a pay cut, got a level entry job in the industry I wanted to be in and kind of clawed my way up the chain 😭. It actually took me about 2.5 years before I was out earning my old job, and then it was easier to get more experience and work my way into a much better tax bracket. Won’t lie, it was humbling to start at the bottom and I worked really hard for less money at first, but it paid off. Anyways, my point is, sometimes it’s worth re-evaluating the company or industry we’re working in. And sometimes a hard shift can pay off. 😬. Best of luck!!

Bc we bought our home in 2011 and mortgage+taxes are under $1k a month when market rate in 2026 would be $3500 or rental at least $3,000/mo.
