Most unexpected free thing I received: I had to purchase expensive new/recent for that time, law books for classes, so I had to go to small strange book store for law school students down town. I had my list and gave it to the man behind the counter. He disappeared for about 8 minutes and came back with the books and extra study materials (cards). He put them on the counter and explained also about helpful study cards, and as I was going to pay he handed me the items and said thank you, I was looking to pull out money, again he quietly and discreetly said thank you. I think I stood at the counter for awhile shocked and in disbelief and I quietly said thank you and slowly and in a state of shock took the books worth hundreds of dollars and went home. I was also gifted my 1st Cello as an adult, strange because I played violin and clarinet at that time and was also amazed as this was unexpected and I did not yet play cello

when my youngest daughter got a full-ride scholarship to nursing school. but, maybe isnt free because she worked her tail off to earn it?

Not free but my kids cost me a $10 copay. In today’s economy that sounds like free to me.
