Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel, Fitzroy This spot is where you need to come for your Sunday roast fix. The Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel began as the Junction Hotel in 1866 and was renamed in 1974. Over the years, it changed hands and identities before chef Sean Donovan and his wife Natalie took over in 2015. It underwent renovations by the team and opened as a modern gastropub, blending its historic roots with a contemporary & bright feel. Here’s an overview of what we had: - Sunday roast: lamb rump, mash, spinach, green beans, lentils and Madeira sauce: this was the roast of the week, it was FANTASTIC! Great portion and the best sauce ever - Apple & Rhubarb Crumble: The best I have had, not too sour, not too sweet, rhubarb was cooked perfectly, super warm & hearty for winter , wish it had more ice cream for the large serve though Truly this place is awesome. A roast will set you back $25, it’s a no brainer. There is a Sunday Surcharge of 15% so the roast more comes to $28 but I aint complaining with how good it was! Service was super friendly & we will be back, no doubt about it, to try their rotating roasts. You can check out what one they have on offer, on their IG story weekly.
