Sorry not sorry, but I’m about to get annoyingly dramatic and emotional. I genuinely cannot believe how freaking lucky I am to see places that are this beautiful. One of my best friends took me on a hike to Garibaldi Lake as a little “welcome to Vancouver,” and the second I got to the top, immediate tears. It took me a solid minute just to process the fact that a place like this actually exists. The water looked almost unreal, like someone had turned the saturation all the way up. The mountains stretched on forever, the air felt impossibly fresh, and for a moment everything was completely still. And when i thought about the fact that im standing on top of a mountain. MIND FREAKING BLOWN. As an immigrant kid who grew up dreaming about seeing more of the world, moments like this never feel normal. I don’t think they ever will. Every time I get to stand somewhere beautiful, I’m reminded that life has taken me places younger me could never have imagined. I think about the fact that im living the life i always dreamed of as a child but never thought I could achieve. So moments like this, that might not mean much for a lot of people, HIT ME SO HARD. There are days when the world feels heavy and overwhelming, and then there are days like this that make you stop in your tracks and remember how much beauty exists around us. I stood there looking at that lake feeling so small, but in the best possible way. All of my worries shrank, and all that was left was gratitude. So that’s why moments like this always make me cry. Because sometimes the beauty of the places im witnessing is so overwhelming, i can’t believe im witnessing it with my eyes. Anyways, thank you Vancouver for the welcome.
