starfield actually had no chance. It could’ve been the best game ever and still no one would’ve cared. At this rate elder scrolls might not even have a chance lmao

I bought a used series s just I play it. It was really bad. There was one point I spent an hour and a half trying to circumvent a game breaking glitch that made it impossible for me to finish a main story mission because I couldn’t open an elevator. Very shallow game with the lamest sci fi art style imaginable

Starfield sold 6 million copies and made it on to game pass after. However you feel about it (I enjoyed the game) it was definitely a commercial success

bethesda needs a significant shake up in management if they want to continue making games. microsoft bought them and have basically seen zero return on investment since then.

In my experience, it was fun. As long as you had something to do. The second you ran out of quests to complete it was pretty hollow and hard to find other stuff to do or other quests

I played it on pc the month it dropped, got half the special power relics and companions, tried out and did a few missions for every fraction it was genuinely a 6/10 game glad I didn't pay full price and glad I didn't invest in it

As someone who has played it: keep the aesthetic, give it to someone who can do it miles better.

I yearn for the timeline where starfield never got made and ESO + FO76 never existed or got support cut early, giving us Elder scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 by 2025

Recently got into it despite all of the hate, and honestly it’s good. Not every single game in existence is going to be completely perfect. It was easily better than fo4, which to be fair, is not a high bar, but it was not bad. The lore in the game is incredible, and a lot of people haven’t fully explored the game.

The other thing that baffles me is that Starfield was always spoken of as the game Todd always wanted to make and then we get it and it’s…meh.

It announced those things together primarily because Zenimax was looking to sell Bethesda. It was their way of showing potential new owners “if you buy us, these are the titles you can expect to have in your stable”. Likewise, Fallout 76 was the keynote that year, and they wanted to showcase a new entry in a single player series to mitigate concerns that they were shifting to only service style titles.

Observing the obvious mismanagement of Bethesda has been like watching a decades long traffic pileup

The problem with Starfield is that it’s *just* No Man’s Skyrim. Bethesda took two already successful games that have zero overlap in terms of gameplay, and shoe-horned them together in a way that washed out most of the flavor, while not adding anything new to either experience. I’d have way more fun playing No Man’s Sky or Skyrim each within a vacuum than I had playing Starfield for the 4 hours I spent trying to get into it. They wanted it to be like No Man’s Sky post-DLC’s, but instead the game we got was closer to No Man’s Sky at launch, except it released 7 years after No Man’s Sky launched

my main gripe with starfield is that bethesda is known for its world design and the world design in starfield is so half baked and bland, and so ur just left with a generic bethesda story (not a good one) in a lame and boring world. bethesda is just a series of band decisions compounding on eachother rn

I don’t know. Everyone gets too dramatic about it. Bethesda tried a new IP and it turned out to be mid. It’s been 3 years. I’ve moved on.
