J U L Y 1 6 T H • 7 P M - 9 P M 154 E Broadway NY, wine on us, NA drinks available • Margo Wallace is a painter and textile artist based in NYC. They work with themes of identity and the self, death and rebirth, and trans resilience. They often work with mixed media and unconventional form, utilizing what they call the ‘dead hung’ method. Their work has recently been published in An Anthology of Us, a book highlighting queer masculinities in literature and visual art. Between Flesh and Dirt is an exhibition by artist Margo Wallace featuring multimedia textile works created through natural dyeing. Throughout the past year Wallace has foraged and collected materials to dye with including food scraps and fallen foliage. The work reflects on how the human experience intertwines with the natural world. Wallace identifies a reciprocal relationship with themself and nature and uses it as a metaphor for rebirth and as a lens into their gender exploration. Their work is a practice into ritual, repeating cycles, and queer belonging. The exhibition began with a sewing machine that was gifted to the artist by their grandmother and an iron from their mother, continuing the generational tradition of textile work through a queer perspective.
