@mattypowz.md: I never do a skin check “real quick.” A careful skin exam takes time. On the back especially, many moles can look very similar to the naked eye, and the one that deserves a closer look isn’t always obvious. That’s why I examine each pigmented lesion carefully with dermoscopy. It reveals structures beneath the surface that aren’t visible to the naked eye and helps identify lesions that may need a biopsy.
