You say sit pit, we say couch lock 🛋️🔒 What it really is, is ADHD paralysis. ADHD paralysis is a catatonic state where one minute, you're going full steam ahead, and the next, you're screeching to halt, breaking down, and feeling stuck. The reason this happens to people with ADHD is due to our struggles with executive functions, which are a set of cognitive skills regulated by dopamine. Some of those skills are: ▫️ Working memory ▫️ Paying attention ▫️ Organizing thoughts ▫️ Starting or switching tasks ▫️ Managing emotions HOW TO GET OUT OF ADHD COUCH LOCK: 1️⃣ Give yourself a 10 minute mental boost Move to the floor, stretch, text a friend, play your favorite song on repeat till your body and mind starts moving again. Allow yourself more time if you need it 💙 2️⃣ Do a body scan Maybe your body and mind are trying to tell you something, have you drank any water? Do you need a snack? Or a nap? 3️⃣ When in doubt, count it out If you're past the point of no return (i.e. you’ve been stuck in the couch for 3 hours), try setting a timer or just counting down from 10—it may give you enough motivation to simply stand up again. 4️⃣ Reward your stubborn brain It's possible that you may need to trick your ADHD brain into completing a task. Do this by allowing yourself a reward when you complete it. You may find that gently putting yourself back in motion after resting can easily get you back on track 🌟 Follow @get_inflow for more ADHD related content 🧠 Featured creator: @meghanandjack
