I’m a financial planner and I agree with Mei chomi. Yes you can take out life cover for your parent, they need to consent to it and agree to do the medicals.

Best advice ever, but when you also list yourself as the payer, it does at times trigger additional underwriting questions and requirements. And what often follows is that the life cover amount might be limited. So, rather have parents as payer, even if you send them the money yourself and yourself as the beneficiary. Make sure full underwriting applies. Do your own calculations after to see if the cover will be worthwhile considering the expected lifespan of parent and accepted premium. Please do not apply yourself, you might miss that insurable interest requirement he spoke about, then you’ll be shocked to find out at claim stage that you’ve been paying for a contract that’s null and void
