Greek mythology is not just “pure fantasy.” It comes from the religion, culture, and storytelling tradition of ancient Greece. The Olympics was named after the Olympic gods (we even had an Airline named after the Olympics), for example King Minos and the Minotaur story was based in Crete and the Labyrinth ruins actually exist and Athens was named after Athena. The only thing we ask for is respect to our culture. The historical basis of the epic is based on the Trojan War, a real event. The Mycenaeans (Greeks) did indeed fight against Troy. Homer mentions precise geographical locations such as Ithaca, Pylos and Sparta. The descriptions of weapons, ships and burial practices show the real life of the Mycenaean era.
