@straypoison7: The Holy Mountain (1973) / A film directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky. Released in 1973, The Holy Mountain is one of the defining works of surrealist and avant-garde cinema. The film follows a Christ-like wanderer who joins an alchemist and a group of powerful individuals on a symbolic journey toward the mythical Holy Mountain in search of immortality and enlightenment. Along the way, Jodorowsky dismantles religion, capitalism, colonialism, consumer culture, and the illusion of power through an overwhelming series of surreal and unforgettable images. Produced with the support of John Lennon and Yoko Ono through their manager Allen Klein, the film became an international cult classic for its uncompromising vision and extraordinary production design. Every frame is meticulously composed, blending mysticism, alchemy, tarot, mythology, and philosophy into a cinematic experience that resists conventional interpretation. Rather than offering answers, Jodorowsky invites the viewer to question reality itself. More than a surrealist film, The Holy Mountain is an exploration of spiritual awakening and the human desire to transcend material existence. Its final moments remain among the most iconic in cinema, breaking the illusion of film itself and reminding us that enlightenment cannot be found within fiction alone, but in the world beyond the screen. #TheHolyMountain #AlejandroJodorowsky #SurrealistCinema #CultCinema #fyp
