4 months of training my butt off (literally) for this ultramarathon… it’s hard to fathom not actually running this thing because of an injury that happened 2 WEEKS before the race. It’s natural to fall into the self-pity trap of thinking how unfair it is and that you just wasted a third of a year, and while it is ok to be frustrated, it’s even more important to reflect back on the journey and realize what you GAINED from the training experience- race or no race. •New friends •Discipline •Learning more about the sport you love •And killer quads if I do say so myself😌 The reality is that it’s the PROCESS of training that is the real prize, not the OUTCOME of running a race and getting a medal. Don’t get me wrong, the race is super important and you should do everything in your power to get to the starting line to be able to celebrate all that hard work, but remember that that is what the race is- a celebration of the person you became. Just because you got injured, that doesn’t mean you’re a different person. Take 10 seconds to be proud of the work you put in because VERY FEW people in the world can do it. You are in ELITE COMPANY. Like I mentioned, we already won this race by coming together to raise A THOUSAND DOLLARS for the mental health organization that the race supports and that just blows me away. Thank you so much to those that have donated and if you want to help us reach our goal of $2,000, you can find the gofundme link in my bio! 6 more days to get healthy, pray for me🙏 #MentalHealth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthsupport #ultramarathon #ultramarathonrunner #ultramarathontraining #athletemindset #mentalhealthforathletes
