Just as the people of Teyvat, many people in the genshin fandom have the common misconception that Lumine is some sort of self righteous selfless hero, which is why she receives so much hate when she does something “selfish”. However I think that many people mix up the concept of her being a “hero” with her being selfless. She is a hero in a sense that she does save nations, people etc, but she is not inherently a selfless character, and most of her actions are either becuase 1. It is to help continue her journey or 2. Because she has a close bond with the person and wants to help them. The traveler is not always morally just, but she is kind. She will always pick the side that SHE believes is right, even if it is not the morally correct side. There are many instances of this but I think the most obvious is her relationship with the fatui. Upon her first encounters with a harbinger, she is always on the defense because she has the the preconceived notion that they are a bad group, and yet she is willing to temporarily work with them if they are on the same side. Another example of this is her actions in Nod-Krai. I saw many people saying that she was very hypocritical and selfish for using the abyssal power when Aether told her to, but there are so many reasons as to why she did it. Yes it was hypocritical, but it was not selfish for her to choose to trust who she thought was her brother of 500+ years over a women she just met. Especially given the fact that “Aether” had shown her that Lauma was lying to Lumine, and even guilted her into trusting him. Yes, she is hypocritical for using the abyss power but at the time she believed that the moon marrow would give her answers she was seeking, and that’s also if you don’t take into consideration the emotional significance of that scene. She carries a heavy burden on herself, and her main goal is to continue her journey. She is no hero, never claimed she was, and even says herself that people only think of her that way. It is not selfish or out of character for her to choose her own goals, it’s just that everyone in the fandom sees her as a self insert instead of her own character and just immediately assume she will be selfless serving hero 😅😅 #lumine #GenshinImpact #genshin #luminegenshinimpact #lurika
