@hermoneymastery: Being a month ahead is a HUGE game changer for the way you budget. Systems like this will change your life! #Budgeting #budgetingforbeginners #budget #budgetingtiktok #moneymindset
I save up a percentage of each bill I have. When I was being paid bi weekly I saved 50% of each bill. Now I’m being paid weekly I save 25% each paycheck. And I add an extra 100 dollars towards saving for bills every week. It used to be 200 when I was bi weekly and NONE of my bills are on auto pay. I pay them early every month

would love to know how you get this going if you are paycheck to paycheck and can’t ever get ahead of anything

I also recommend taking your annual bills (insurance, dues, Christmas, etc) and divide by 12 to add them into your monthly contributions and work to doing the full amount in there so you’re ready when it comes

Except bills like electricity and water change month to month. You can’t choose a “set” amount to move for bills that aren’t static.

I get paid binweekly and in July I get 3 paychecks. I’m going to take this third “extra” paycheck to get a month ahead on my bills and I am so excited!

I’ve used your method on this. I’m 2 months ahead now so I don’t think I follow directions well 😂.

I like this but personally i like keeping my money for bills in a HYSA (to earn a lil interest) then withdraw from it &pay my bills on their due date

Bobby on a Budget :
The commenter using July's third paycheck to start this is timing it perfectly — that's exactly how I finally got there. I tried to jump a whole month ahead in one go twice and quit both times; what stuck was getting just ONE bill a month ahead, then adding the next whenever a little extra landed. Took most of a year, but the first month where every due date was already funded before it arrived changed how bill week feels completely. And the "2 months ahead by accident" comment is the best kind of not following directions 😂

hi i followed this strategy about 1-2 years ago and it helped me significantly reduce my stress about having enough to pay my bills. i’m still working on paying off my student loans and increasing my savings towards bigger goals but my stress about bills is no longer an issue. thank you so much for the guidance!

My problem is my water and electric bill are different every month and I have basically no way of knowing how much they will be until I get the bill

Wouldn’t it be better if it was in a HYSA instead? At least you’re earning a little bit of interest in between bills

My only disagreement is auto pay. You SHOULD be aware of when bills are due. You SHOULD go in and schedule those payments. I pay on the first of each month anything due for that month.
