a lot about buying a car is pot luck. but my best cars have always come from reasonable and trustworthy sellers. usually one man band dealerships (which are local, and personable) or private sellers who are friendly and open. just my thoughts

may I add, take a mate with you, whose sole job is to convince you not to buy it (head over heart) if the seller insists it's cash only - walk away (do you really want to carry £10k to meet someone) price up parts(fitted)(tyres, brakes, clutch service, etc) before you go - gives you some bargaining power. check the recall history if it's a newer car(make sure it's been done) ALWAYS test drive (if it's FWD, do the full lock circle front & back, both ways sorry for the essay, but lastly if something seems off or too good to be true, walk away & keep looking 👍

Also, look at how many types of models second hand dealerships have. If they have a lot of the same model and make, that’s usually a sign that people buy it brand new and then quickly try to sell it off. Very few cars appreciate in value, a lot depreciate as soon as they are out of the dealership.
