@missclairebenjamin: What to do when your performance is questioned during the early stages of a new role… Not getting off to a good start in a new job, receiving no induction, training or handover can be extremely stressful. It can leave you struggling to get to grips with things and questioning yourself. So if your manager then turns around and says they expected you to get up to speed with things quicker than you have, it can feel very overwhelming. You may even fear your job security especially if you have a probationary period. Companies should always provide proper inductions and training. There is so much evidence about the importance of this for setting employees up for success. Unfortunately so many people still find themselves in a situation where they don’t receive the induction they need. If you do find yourself in this position, I recommend focusing on what you do have control over: ✅ Proactively asking for what you need for example a weekly 1:1, clear objectives and regular feedback ✅ Creating opportunities to upskil for example finding people experienced in the company to shadow ✅ Your mindset, it’s not easy when you’re in the middle of a difficult situation like this but focusing on influencing the situation rather than feeling powerless in it is really important 💬 Have you ever faced a situation similar to this? What did you do? 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised and will not fit every situation. Therefore, please use your own judgement when using this advice and adapt it to suit your situation. ➕ Follow for more tips on navigating tricky work situations #worktips #difficultconversations #assertivecommunication #difficultsituations #communicationskills

This happened to me… they literally said “we dropped the ball with your training but we need to you show growth in ___ amount of time of you’re fired.” But then gave no specifics so I had no idea what I was supposed to “improve.” Also never continued my training… you know the thing that stopped and they admitted they failed on…
