a bit of a correction: the resignation of Gulyás Gergely was more meant to be a protest against the constitutional changes, but it fell on its face. he wanted all of them to resign their positions in protest, but the rest of the party didnt follow

You're correct that Magyar is center-right, the whole Tisza party is not. There are plenty of leftist representatives in it, including Bálint Ruff, the minister of the prime minister's office and deputy prime minister. He is pretty much the second most important person in the new government, and very much a liberal. He also used to be a political advisor for multiple socialist and social democrat mayors.

Poland has had an anti-corruption agency for years and it pretty quickly turned into sanctioned political police. In former USSR countries like russia or belarus, corruption charges are the main tool for political control of the regime underlings. I'm sorry. but I will remain skeptical as to long term viability of this solution.
