@monicauribe1073: I don’t know what just happened. But what we thought was a max 6 year offer is now 22 years. How is this possible the crime doesn’t fit the offer. #justice4everyone
You need to tell us what he did! Stop telling people here that it doesn’t matter. It does! There are lawyers in your comments wanting ti help you if he truly needs or should get help. People that have been though this can help you find solutions to get an appeal started. But you need to tell everyone what he did!!! So those people with knowledge and experience with his type of case can chime in or offer help.

apparently the judge tight 6 years was too light so as others have said... what did your son do to warrant a judge giving him 22 years?

that’s what happens unfortunately when you take a case to trial.

From what I’ve seen if you don’t take their plea they stick it to you. Did this go to trial?

The bad choices they make, they have to learn there are consequences. That’s why we teach him while they’re little for example, I tell My Son you don’t hit a girl you respect and it’s both ways.

Tell your son to sign up for all available classes and anything else they offer. It will take a lot of time off his sentence. My son got 20 years in minimum security and after less then one year he is on his way to a camp. He worked two different jobs during his time there got his GED and signed up for multiple programs. It helped him a lot. With time served, programs and classes he may end up only serving 5 to 7 years. He committed a crime and does need to do the time but I feel that God is looking down on him and shining his light.

If he did the crime he should've taken the plea deal. You lose in trial you get the maximum.

I thinks it’s possible because the crime does fit the offer? If your son was in a car that was shot at and intended to be killed then you’d be outraged by any sentence that wasn’t substantial. Luckily he did not successfully kill anyone? But I’m sure even the attempt on his life that you would find only a few years to not fit the crime either..

We have to be strong together pray together . We have AUTHORITY THROUGH JESUS TO TAKE CLAIM OVER OUR PRAYERS AND SPEAK things into existence . Powers in our words . Where more than one is gathered it shall happen. Go before the courts of heaven and pray that lesser sentence into promise into existence . I will happen less time freedom ask and we SHALL RECEIVE

I’m so sorry. Cannot explain why they do this especially if no new circumstances come up. It’s one of the reasons I stopped litigating.

I feel you on this momma. My husband signed his plea for 10.5 years. The judge and the prosecutor were good friends and made him out to be a horrible person and supposed gang member (which is definitely incorrect). The judge gave him 22 years. Thats what they do to young black men here!!! (P.S. The prosecutor is under investigation now for doing this and other things to many other case).

The judge always has the final say. Just because he made an agreement doesn’t mean the judge has to abide by that sentence. Don’t even have to accept the agreement at all.
