it's actually a phenomenon you can see throughout history. When there is no certainty of the future (jobs being overtaken, wars increasing, economical depression, increased inflation) it's noted that people turn to party that is build on hopes and promises. Trad wives and conservative outlook promise a future where there will be a financial security, job security, things like that. People turn religious because it's easier to pray than to take accountability and responsibility for things happening. It's a common trend
