When I first watched nocturne I liked the intersectionality of all the revolutions happening in the same span, but was confused why Egyptian mythology was thrown into the mix of a predominately vampiric folklore inspired story. I know Sekhmet has vampiric like qualities, but why her specifically? Why not another mythos, as almost all cultures has a god or creature that resembles a vampire in some way. But with time, I think it acts as a vehicle to the greater narrative on the history of race oppression. How Europeans people would enslave African people, but be obsessed with their stories, mythologies, rituals, to the point to where the wealthiest white people paid exuberant amounts to EAT mummies, which were often dead nobility. It was the consumption of cultures on another level. And ultimately that’s the core of all vampire stories (not just castlevania), consumed by a hunger so great you lose your humanity.

That's one of the things I LOVE about Castelvania, whether OG or Nocturne, characters don't necessarily react the expected way to things They can not get ragebaited, they can make wrong assumptions and errors of judgement, they can say shit they absolutely know nothing about, they can double back or even triple back on decisions, etc That made the characters realistic and so interesting to follow imo
