@adivunsolicited: Mississippi has a body count of black peiple hanging from trees and a pattern of calling it “suicide.” So when an 18-year-old named Nolan Wells goes missing on July 4th and turns up dead two days later, our instinct not to trust the first official story isn’t paranoia it’s our real lived experience. Mississippi didn’t officially ratify the 13th Amendment the one that abolished slavery until February 2013. Not a typo. 1995 they voted for it, then never filed the paperwork with the National Archives. It took two guys watching the movie Lincoln to notice and fix it. So when people say “that was so long ago,” ask them what year it actually became official on paper. That’s the culture of Mississippi But here’s the line we have to hold: knowing this could happen isn’t the same as knowing it did. Real history, real questions, real demand for transparency without turning grief into a guessing game that only helps people dismiss us. Say the history. Demand the investigation. Let the facts not the algorithm decide what happened to Nolan. #nolanwells #mississippi #BlackTikTok #BlackHistory

We can’t ignore the history of yt people and how we’ve acted in Mississippi. This SCREAMS, hooded yt group. This is the time for yt people to hold the hooded group accountable and end the senseless deaths of the Black Community. History can’t get any louder.

This is so heartbreaking. My mom was born in 1959 and my dad was born in 1949. This is not ancient history. 😐

I was born and raised in the northeast. My grandmother was born in 1916 and my mother in 1943. The stories I learned about my family from the rural south when my grandmother was in hospice in 2014…. Completely changed my world view forever.
