@hustlersnthehood: He used to watch doctors walk past him every shift. Now he's one of them, at the same hospital. For about five years, Russell Ledet worked security at Baton Rouge General, patrolling the halls with chemistry note cards in his pocket, studying whenever the floor went quiet. Every time a doctor passed, he'd ask to shadow them. Almost every one said the same thing: "security guards don't become doctors." He kept asking anyway. One finally said yes. That was all he needed. Ledet went on to earn a PhD in molecular oncology from NYU, then an MD and MBA from Tulane, and came full circle, back to the same hospital he once guarded, this time in a white coat. He's also a Navy vet who co-founded The 15 White Coats, built to put more Black doctors in the field, only around 5% of doctors in this country look like him. So he made himself the proof, then went back to make more. Everyone told him no. He treated it like a scheduling problem, not a verdict. Same halls, same lights, different coat. #HustlersNTheHood
