@jakewoolfstyle: Levi’s should have bought Cone Mills in 2017 when it was going belly up. Without the secret ingredient, what are Levi’s jeans, anyway? Here are my thoughts #style #mensfashion #levis #jeans
Wrangler bought up a bunch of White Oak Selvedge and made cowboy cuts with it. Outstanding jeans. Shame Levi’s lost the plot.

Also: anyone saying it’s not good business will constantly talk about how The Masters is amazing. Pick a lane.

I worked there at that time. Agree with you 100%. This really chapped my ass then and still bothers me to this day.

Well explained Jake. I used to wear Levi’s long before you were born my son and they were amazing. That’s all we’d wear. Haven’t bought a pair in years other than the one you gifted me. But this explanation is awesome. Listen to this man. he knows what he’s talking about my TikTok and Facebook friends.

it’s kinda like a Kodak moment- business abandoned their fundamental origin and then lost the sauce.

I have a few pairs of Taylor Stitch White Oak denim. The quality is amazing. Levi’s really fumbled on this, and they’ve been going downhill for a long, long time.

I miss Cone Mills so much. The first company I ever worked with as a production designer used Organic White Oak denim.

If Levi’s bought cone and continued to make USA made jeans in white oak denim, yes I would be in line to buy those. But would white oak have the same aura / desire it has now that it’s rare USA made deadstock? Side note, There’s still two Draper looms with proximity denim in Greensboro, it’s just too small to scale and hard to get. A little disjointed here but Levi’s and the story is too big to die, and can always reinvent itself and go back to their fundamentals. I hope they take the risk and jumpstart USA made jeans again

There’s literally 100s of quality denim brands in 2026. Levis made in Japan and LVC is fine but I just don’t see why you’d choose them over all the wonderful options we have today
