Jesus teaches us that forgiveness and boundaries can exist together. Forgiveness doesn't mean giving someone access to hurt you again. Repentance is the choice of the other person, not ours to control. If someone continues to hurt you in the same way after you've forgiven them, forgive them... and walk away. Forgiveness is a gift we give. Like any gift, it should be received with care, not taken for granted. When someone repeatedly chooses not to honor that gift, it's okay to love them from a distance and protect the peace God entrusted to you.
