I have a theory that they aren't actually siblings but pretending to be one, iirc the author tanizaki either wrote about a couple pretending to be siblings living together or he himself did that. I always thought asagiri implemented that with these two

I feel like a LOT of people advise to “Just forget them”, but the Tanizaki’s are both very beneficial to the plot and will continue to be of the story ever goes back to them at some point. I wish that they weren’t ONLY seen for what they do even if it’s hard to ignore that but they’re absolutely great characters under the surface that they have.
