Am I missing something here? This is not unprecedented; the 1996 Miss Italy winner was also Black. So what exactly is the controversy? Yes, she has African heritage, but she is not African in terms of nationality. She was born and raised in a small town in Italy and speaks the local dialect. If she had not grown up in Italy, I could understand the discussion, but if she was born, raised, and culturally shaped there, what exactly is the issue? By the way, she is beautiful.
