The Meta data centre is a good thing for Alberta, and is being built fully by private funds. Also: 1) It will build its own power, so no grid impact. 2) It will use closed loop cooling, so no water impact. 3) It is being built in an existing heavy industrial area, so no residential impact. 4) The land is being put into production, so the municipality will collect property taxes. 5) Alberta will collect revenue from its Data Centre Levy. 6) Canada and Alberta will collect income tax revenue from the new OECD Global Minimum Tax's "Pillar 2" (taxing revenue where work is performed). Overall, this is an excellent opportunity for Alberta!
