The retirement pensions aren’t worth waiting. Top it off the medical insurance isn’t that good anymore either. I know teachers who left because they couldn’t afford to maintain medical insurance for their families as a teacher. Costco is better.

this really isn't a surprise when teachers are severely over worked and underpaid and emotionally manipulated into spending their own money on things necessary for the students but not provided

with the low pay, high cost to get an education to become a teacher, the low respect they get from parents, students, government officials..... yeah I understand why they don't want to stay and would say we have multiple problems.

its gone from classes of 20 kids to classes of 30-40 kids with extra behavioral issues, parents who automatically side with the kids in all disputes, and special ed children placed in regular classes without support. They spend hours of unpaid time marking and doing lesson planning. Then theyre paid so badly that there are news stories about teachers sleeping in their cars bc they cant afford rent. No duh theyre leaving.

People are realizing that the work load isnt equal to the pay. By a lot. And the outside of contract hours demands are HEAVY. Again on very little pay. The hoops to jump through just to get the license & maintain are insane. (I've made $23k this year so far & spent over 10% of that on fees) And lastly, the kids are feral. Not in a cute way either, a dangerous way.

It’s also partially true. I also see that they don’t wanna hire people with experience anymore. If you have 1015 years and you leave your position that is literally impossible to find another position because you become too expensive they wanna have new teachers with no experience with less money, but they don’t wanna train them or have them either so the entire system of education in America’s messed up

i am 51. we have treated teachers like dirt my whole life. it is physically unsafe to teach in many places. why would you want to be unsafe AND underpaid ?

I spent 10 years being physically abused by students, verbally abused by parents, and emotionally abused and manipulated by admin. You couldn’t pay me a million dollars/year to go back now that I’ve been out for 5 years and finally have a regulated nervous system.

The teachers being moved is so true! Last year was my first year of teaching. I started in fourth grade and when a third grade teacher quit due to burnout from behaviors, they moved me mid semester just to then tell me at the end of the year they were “reassigning” me because they wanted a bilingual teacher instead. Now im in a new building, teaching 1st now all within my now second year of teaching.
